Your vacation to Bhutan, Colombia, or one of the Baltic nations should be in your itinerary right now. All three locations are now part of new Signature Land trips that National Geographic trips has just announced. There will be several departures on each of the routes in 2024.
Immerse yourself in the rich history, vibrant culture, and breathtaking architecture of the mountainous country of Bhutan on an 11-day journey. Among the program's highlights are archery instruction (the national sport of Bhutan) and a private guided hike to the famous Tiger's Nest monastery. Guests will also get the opportunity to dine with dignitaries from Bhutan. Caroll Dunham, a medical anthropologist who focuses on protecting sacred sites in Southeast Asia, will be leading some of the excursions.
Over the course of nine days, tourists visiting Colombia will go from Bogota to Cartagena, stopping in places like Barranquilla, Tayrona National Park, and the Cocora Valley. San Basilio de Palenque, the first American municipality to grant freedom to formerly enslaved people, is one stop on the itinerary, along with birdwatching and coffee tasting. Some of the excursions will be guided by Rosa Vasquez Espinoza, a conservationist and adventurer for National Geographic.
Visiting Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia takes place over the course of eleven days on the Baltic trip. The capitals of the three nations, Gauja National Park, and the Curonian Spit are all in the itinerary. Travelers will have the opportunity to see both natural wonders like the Gusmanas Caves and historic monuments like a mediaeval castle, a palace from the 19th century, and a stronghold from the 20th century. Photographer and naturalist Jeff Mauritzen, whose work has appeared in multiple National Geographic publications, will be leading some of the excursions, so picture enthusiasts will have a field day on this trip.
