The Santa Cruz airport is El Calafate. In the midst of the desolate Patagonian terrain, there lies a picturesque settlement called El Calafate that sits on the shores of Lake Argentino. It serves as the entry point to Los Glaciares National Park, a region characterized by lakes, mountains, and glaciers. Ventus Australis will enter the secluded archipelago, home of Cape Horn National Park, by early morning after cruising Nassau Bay. Cape Horn, a craggy point rising 1,394 feet above the choppy Drake Passage waters, is home to a windswept island where you can set foot on land. The next stop is the legendary Wulaia Bay, where the Yámana people once established one of the most extensive communities in the area. Passengers can explore the region on foot or by bike after seeing the museum in the old radio station.

After leaving Wulaia Bay, we head back to the Beagle Channel and continue westward along the southern coast of Tierra del Fuego, entering a part of Alberto de Agostini National Park known as Glacier Alley. We unload and then trek a short distance to the peak of Pia Glacier for a breathtaking panorama. We will dock close to Garibaldi Glacier for another shore trip as we continue westward along the Beagle Channel and enter another lengthy fjord.

We will enter Agostini Sound first thing in the morning after sailing via Cockburn Channel. From this vantage point, one can observe the glaciers that flow down from the Darwin Mountain Range, with a few even making it to the lake.
